Gyoml
{Grow Your Own Media Lab}, a networked national project developing ground-up media spaces, methods and practice. The Polytechnic developed a series of workshops and set-up two 'Grow your own media labs' in two communities- Throckley community center (Newcastle) & Washington Arts Centre (Sunderland) led by two artists in residence- Matt Gray & Steve Symons.


Gyoml is initiated by Access Space, Sheffield and in collaboration between; folly ,
Lancaster, Access Space and The Polytechnic. The 'Gyoml' project also worked in collboration with the AV06 Festival:Life Like.

A workshops for multimedia producers, filmmakers, musicians, artists and designers. Polytechnic delivered an intro to accessing and working with Open Source technologies
using a 'live Linux distribution', an operating system that runs from the cdrom drive of your PC. The session explored audio production, video editing, image manipulation, DJ & Vj'ing, 3d modelling and streaming.
