THROCKLEY MEDIA LAB - Steve Symons

Throckley community center is an active community space for a wide range of activities and uses. It is run by the local community and had dedicated a space for a media lab resource which the community were keen for the center users to make use of. For this project resident Artist Steve Symons worked with a group of young people of the center on a sound mapping project.
Polytechnic installed a number of recycled computers with the Linux distribution Demudi. The group worked on the sound map project using Audacity and Hydrogen Open Source applications. They were also introduced to Jack & Alsa.
